I was hired to perform a gap analysis on their business and manufacturing operations with the objective of answering the following question. “Would I award you a complex system build project”.
Over the course of 3 weeks, a comprehensive gap analysis of; work flows, business and process system controls, quality controls and organizational structure was completed and presented to the management team. The analysis provided details of specific weaknesses and recommendations for those areas in manufacturing, processes controls, business system consolidation and organizational where changes were needed to take on higher complexity products.
Two additional tasks were asked for and completed during the same period. A Manufacturing Services Agreement (MSA) contract template was needed as part of the company’s transition to higher value add work. Additionally, a phase gate new product introduction life cycle guideline was requested as an on-going management tool to be used with future customers.
Both documents were adapted to this customer’s unique environment, presented to the management team and finalized. Taken together along with the gap analysis, a foundation was laid to alter the scope of the business along with the tools to execute the transformation.
